No matter how much you love your home sometimes you just want a change. Wanting a change doesn’t mean you have to embark on a big renovation project it can be as simple as rearranging the furniture to make the room feel more cozy. Here are some quick hacks to spruce up your home and completely change the look. These are all easy to do without spending a fortune.
Change the look of the door
The front door is the first thing that people see when they come to your home and this is the easiest way to make a good impression. You can repaint your door in an afternoon and give your home a more welcoming appearance. You can add a welcome mat or simply change or add a door knocker.
Create a conversation area
It is pretty common to place the furniture around the perimeter of the room, but instead you can create a conversation area in your living room. You see this all the time in hotel lobbies, arrange the furniture in a “H” shaped pattern. You can place two arm chairs beside each other facing the sofa with your coffee table in the middle . When you are entertaining it is far easier to have a conversation comfortably.
Let the light in
Natural light is always the most flattering, not only that it will save you a fortune in utility costs at the same time. It is bright and invigorating and it is time to get rid of those heavy, dark and expensive draperies.
Add some mirrors
If you have smaller rooms then placing mirrors strategically can make the room look bigger. Mirrors also reflect light making the rooms brighter as well, if you put them across from the windows they can bounce light and make the room look larger. Here is how to make your room look bigger.
Make your rugs proportional
If you have ever seen a living room rug that was too big or too small for the room, it looks odd. You can avoid this by making sure that the legs of your furniture fit inside the rug. That conversation area you created, make sure that the front legs of the chairs and the front of the sofa all fit on the area rug. If the rug is big then you can hide some of it under the furniture. This will make the rug look proportional to the room and it won’t leave edges hanging out for people to trip over.
